September 7, 2001 Dear Friends, Re: THE LANGUAGE THREAT TO THE CAPITAL OF CANADA This is an unsolicited letter. Many people who signed the petition to Premier Harris about language, have asked for their own copies. They want to get more signatures. They want to get the media involved in their towns. We now have more than 500 signatures. They come from every part of Ontario. We also have signatures from as far away as Nova Scotia and Vancouver Island. People understand that if the Federal Government can override the Constitution and make the Capital of Canada a French city, it can make every other part of Canada French. All English-speaking people will be subject to open discrimination. There is no longer any doubt. The Chretien Government has abandoned English-speaking people in Quebec. The Chretien Government has also changed the Federal Government into a French one through public policies, appointments and hiring practices that openly discriminate against English-speaking persons at every level. Enclosed is a copy of my letter of May 28, 2001 to members of the Human Rights Institute of Canada, with details about the Ottawa Bilingualism Policy and the determination of the Prime Minister to make Ottawa, the capital of Canada, permanently bilingual . The whole structure is being changed into French. I am enclosing an updated petition which can be signed by any Canadian, asking Premier Harris to stand firm and to refer the legality of the Ottawa Policy to the Courts. It is important that he hear from people from every part of Canada. This is a National issue. The Chretien Government is determined to achieve its goal regardless of the Constitution of Canada and the rights of every Province. We invite you to join the Human Rights Institute of Canada and also to donate to our work. We provide charitable receipts. |
| Sincerely yours, | |
